Blake Koch at Pocono Raceway… Blake Koch has one previous start in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) at Pocono Raceway. The NXS made its first visit to the 2.5-mile triangular-shaped track in 2016 for a rain-shortened 53-lap race. Koch started 12th and finished 15th in his first trip to the “Tricky Triangle.”
Sounding Off- Blake Koch… “Last year was my first time seeing Pocono, but we caught on quick and even made it to the third round of qualifying. I feel like I drove a conservative race to finish 15th so will definitely ramp it up this year. This is one of the most fun tracks to drive. There’s a lot of disagreement in the sport about how many turns there are, but Chris (Rice) and I have it figured out what we are going to call them so I can tell him how my car is handling. The area around Pocono is huge for our sponsor, LeafFilter Gutter Protection, so there’s a lot of excitement surrounding this event.”
2017 Season… Koch is currently 11th in the NXS Championship standings after 11 races. He has recorded one pole position, three top-10 starts, one top-10 finish and six top-15 finishes. Last week at Dover International Speedway, Koch earned a track-best start of 16th and ran as high as ninth before contact in front of Koch on Lap 135 caused him to get loose and spin out, relegating him to a 32nd-place finish.
Blake Koch NXS Career… Koch makes his 192nd NXS start this weekend at Pocono Raceway. To date, Koch has a career-best NXS starting position of first at Talladega Superspeedway (May 2017), and a career-best NXS finish of eighth at RIR (April 2016), Bristol Motor Speedway (August 2016) and Phoenix International Raceway (November 2016).
