Blake Koch at Iowa Speedway… Blake Koch has 12 previous starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) at Iowa Speedway. Koch earned a track-best start and finish of 13th in this event in 2016. The last time Koch visited the track in June of 2017, he tied his career-best start of 13th. In that event, Koch finished 25th after getting caught a lap down when an untimely caution was displayed near the end of the race, just as the team had completed their final green-flag pit stop.
Sounding Off – Blake Koch… “We had a fast car the last time we were at Iowa so we know what we need to look for in our race-balance. I think our car was capable of a top-five finish, but the way the caution flew put us a lap down and mixed up the field. Iowa is one of our best racetracks. We have some great speed and can’t wait to get on track this weekend.”
2017 Season… Koch is currently 11th in the NXS Championship standings after 18 races. He has recorded one pole position, four top-10 starts, one top-10 finish and seven top-15 finishes. The Kaulig Racing driver has led 29 laps so far in 2017. Last week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Koch finished 17th after starting 22nd and suffering damage to the right-front of the No. 11 machine early in the event. The team rebounded to finish just outside of the top 15.
Blake Koch NXS Career… Koch makes his 199th NXS start this weekend at Iowa Speedway. To date, Koch has a career-best NXS starting position of first at Talladega Superspeedway (May 2017), and a career-best NXS finish of eighth at RIR (April 2016), Bristol Motor Speedway (August 2016) and Phoenix International Raceway (November 2016).
